Why did I choose this bird?

Because it's a very colourful and intelligent bird.

What is the Peacock afraid of?

Anything can scare a Macaw, but some specific things that the Macaw is afraid of are change (like changing homes), very loud noises (like thunderstorms), predators (like wild cats, crocodiles, snakes, etc.). Macaws that live in captivity may additionally be afraid of the vet, hands/hand holding, spooks at night and new toys.

Is your bird smart?

Macaws are highly intelligent. They gather in flocks of 10-30 and talk to each other, their loud squarks echo through the far landscapes (like rainforests) to warn each other. Some can copy human speech, however, they can’t understand it, they just mimic it.

Has your bird been a symbol or an icon?

Yes. The Scarlet Macaw is the national bird of Honduras. It is often used as a symbol in this country.

What is a group of Macaws called?

Squad, flock or pod.
